How much do denture cost?

Dentures cost is depending on the type of dentures you are chosen for our clinic we have 4 types of dentures to sevice you like partial denture , chrome denture, flexible denture and Titanium denture. If you are looking for budgets denture, partial denture are affordable option for you.

But most of our patients concern about how long do we need get ready for a new denture for them. The answer is about 3 weeks to get ready for issue.

First of all, you need to call to make an appointment , consultation with the dentists. The 1st appointment consists of an oral examination and and a set of impressions of the upper and lower edentulous ridges. It takes 2 to 3 days to go for the 2nd visit.

The 2nd appointment consists of deciding how "long" to make the teeth, determining the plane of the tooth setup, and the bite of upper and lower teeth so that when you bite together, the upper and lower teeth line up correctly. This is called "wax-bite".

The 3rd appointment is called the "wax try-in". When the lab returns the loosely fitting tray from the 2nd appointment with the actual final plastic teeth lined up along the outer edge of the wax rim. The wax try-in looks just like a real denture, except that the base fits loosely on the gums, and the teeth are embedded in wax instead of plastic.

The 4th appointment is for the issue denture. So that when the patient walks out of the clinic with new dentures.

Cost of full denture our clinic starts from $600/-

Cost of Maryland Brige

Maryland Bridge

A Maryland Bridge is a type of bridge and is the simplest and least invasive. It relies on adhesion (stickyness) a metal wing is attached to the new tooth and this metal is stuck to the back of your adjacent tooth.

The advantage is that the adjacent tooth needs only a little tooth removal.

The disadvantages are this metal wing can become unstuck and sometime the adjacent tooth gets a greyish appearance as the metal can sometimes shine through the tooth.

For the cost of maryland bridge starts from $800/-.

Tips For Patients Who Have Bonding

  1. Do not chew.
  2. Brush normally.
  3. Floss your teeth at least once daily. (Pull floss out horizontally, but not vertically.)
  4. Take multi-vitamins two times daily for one month before and after treatment if gum tissue is inflammed.
  5. have your teeth cleaned at least three or four times yearly.
  6. Make sure you are not grinding your teeth at night. If you are, have your dentist construct a bite guard to avoid fracturing the bonding and minimize damage to your bonded teeth as well as your temporomandibular joint (TMJ).
  7. Do not bite your fingernails. The force can crack the bonding.
  8. Do not pick at a newly bonded tooth with your fingernail.
  9. Do not try your new teeth out too soon.
  10. To prevent staining try to avoid or keep to a minimum coffee, tea, soy sauce, colas, grape juice, blueberries, and fresh cherries.
  11. Do not smoke.
  12. To prevent fracture, avoid directly biting, with front bonded teeth, into the foods.

The Symptoms of Tooth Decay

Tooth decay is the destruction of the enamel (outer surface) of a tooth. Tooth decay is also known as dental cavities or dental caries. Decay is caused by bacteria that collect on tooth enamel. The bacteria live in a sticky, white film called plaque. Bacteria obtain their food from sugar and starch in a person's diet. Tooth decay usually does not cause symptoms until you have a cavity or infected tooth.

When this occurs, symptoms include:
  • Toothache.
  • Bad breath or a foul taste in the mouth.
  • White, gray, brown, or black spots on the teeth.
  • Loose fillings.
  • A broken tooth
  • A tooth that is sensitive to pressure.

The pain may become worse when you:

  • Eat sweets.
  • Eat hot or cold foods or drink hot, cold, or acidic liquids, such as citrus drinks.
  • Chew food or gum.
  • Breathe in cold air.
  • Brush your teeth.

Severe tooth decay may cause a pus-filled sac to form in the bone at the base of a tooth. Symptoms of abscess include:

  • Fever.
  • Swollen glands.
  • A swollen jaw.
  • Deep, throbbing pain.

Dental laboratory at orchard road

It was a sad moment when my dentist sent what might be my last denture case to SJ lab.

Some background info. SJ stands for Simon and Joseph. The two were formally dental technicians with the SAF. After the left the army, they decided to put their skills to good use and started a dental laboratory at Defu Lane, churning out highly economical dentures of acceptable quality. For the past 17 years at Hougang, My dentist had been sending my denture cases to SJ. They have never disappointed me. Every morning without fail, the SJ delivery man (never got his name) would ride down to the clinic on his little scooter to send or collect cases.

After the move to Orchard, my dentist still sent the denture cases to them. It was a bit inconvenient for SJ because he had to bring the cases down to Hougang for them to be collected and then bring the completed cases back from Hougang to Orchard. But with Hougang closed down, there is no more delivery and collection there.

One evening, My dentist paid a visit to SJ and spoke to Joseph about collecting cases from Orchard. There is still a demand for cheap temporary dentures at Orchard. Joseph said that he was sad to lose an old customer. But his biggest problem is that to enter the city to collect cases, whatever little profit he makes from the denture will be wiped out by parking and ERP charges.

How ridiculously obvious to some yet not to others. So what to do? He has to send the denture cases to new labs which do collect from Orchard. But many of these technicians are not familiar with my style like Simon and Joseph. What’s more, they charge a lot more. Maybe that’s to cover their ERP and parking costs. Apart from numerous phone calls from unfamiliar technicians who need clarification for my instructions, denture costs have also gone up tremendously. Can no longer afford to charge Hougang rates for my old regulars from Hougang.

We’ve been told by a wise leader to eat fish if chicken gets too expensive. Must be talking about ikan bilis as fish is always more expensive than chicken. What about dentures? If ERP charges are going to stop the cheap dental labs from coming down to Orchard, perhaps they could take the MRT? Let’s see how these wise leaders carry a few dozen stone casts and dentures down Orchard Road every day. Fish is cheap and stone casts have no weight. Which world are we living in?

Amalgam Fillings VS. Composite Fillings

Amalgam Fillings
Believe it or not, the amalgam filling has a more than 150 - year proven track re c o rd. It is still one of the most reliable, predictable and safe materials with which to fill a cavity.
Composite Fillings
Studies over the past thirty years have shown composite resin to be a safe restorative material. There is no scientific evidence that composites cause adverse health effects in the general population.

Confidence Smile

Most of the Asian women who see me for a makeover would ask for white teeth - the whiter the better. That's easy to understand. Dark-coloured teeth look dirty and worn with age. However, most of them also want small teeth - the smaller the better. That's horrible. When you restore their teeth to their natural form, they complain that they look like Bugs Bunny. But do people really look like Bugs Bunny when their teeth are "large"?
In a normal upper to lower jaw relationship, the upper teeth should overlap the lower teeth. Your upper teeth front teeth should dominate your smile.

A full, beautiful smile should look something like this. Don't ask your dentist to set your upper and lower teeth edge to edge. Always have the upper teeth overlap the lower.

Does she look like Bugs Bunny? I don't think so.

With the focus zoomed out of the face, the "large" upper front teeth harmonise perfectly with the face.

Even with the lower jaw hanging, as if in shock, the upper front teeth should dominate.
